Constance Foland
Constance Foland taught Reading Recovery and English as a Second Language at Manhattan New School under the direction of Shelley Harwayne, and in several other New York City schools. She works with Pre-K-6 principals, literacy coaches and teachers to build strong balanced literacy programs that inspire students to become excited about reading and writing. Constance helps schools and districts in identifying literacy needs and to formulate literacy goals, then provides demonstration teaching, coaching, workshops and multi-day institutes to help accomplish those goals. Constance has most recently been working with schools to develop units of study for writing workshop. She is also working with teachers to make the most of small group and individual instruction. In addition, she works with schools to implement robust vocabulary teaching. Constance is the author of A Song for Jeffrey and Flying High, Pogo! two middle grade novels published by American Girl Publications
